Sri Sai Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital (SAMC), located in Aligarh, is an institution founded on the inspiration of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi. The college is the realization of the vision of its founder, Sri Rakesh Gupta, who aimed to honor India’s ancient medical science, Ayurveda. In April 2002, Om Sri Sai Shiksha Samiti was established and registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. Sri Rakesh Gupta generously donated his extensive herbal estate, spanning over ten acres on the outskirts of Aligarh (G.T. Road), to the society for the purpose of establishing an Ayurvedic college.
The SAMC campus is set in a tranquil environment, ideal for the study and practice of Ayurveda. It includes modern facilities such as well-equipped classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, a rich library with a vast collection of Ayurvedic texts, and residential accommodations for students. The campus also features a fully functional Ayurvedic hospital, providing students with hands-on clinical experience.
SAMC offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program. This 5.5-year course, which includes a one-year mandatory internship, integrates traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern medical knowledge, preparing students for a career in various healthcare settings. The curriculum is designed to provide a thorough understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of Ayurveda.
The college encourages extensive research in the field of Ayurveda, with a focus on innovation and practical applications. The research center at SAMC is equipped with the latest technology and resources, enabling students and faculty to conduct significant research projects that contribute to the advancement of Ayurvedic medicine.
Originally, Sri Sai Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital was the first institution to receive permanent affiliation from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, for offering the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree. As of the 2021-22 academic session, the college is affiliated with Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, further solidifying its reputation as a leading institution in Ayurvedic education.
